We are connected

These days, in Europe and many other parts of the world, we experience a very radical, forced change of behaviour due to policies in regard of COVID-19.

We have to renounce traveling and meeting other people. Most of us had to change worklife structures or even had to resign working at all. All of us have to do without accustomed distraction and consumption patterns. We can feel and see now, that our daily life is totally connected to and relying on the lives of other people in very many ways, economically, in terms of support, medical aid or other social services, and after all – emotionally, of course. The vain belief that we are secure in our privileged part of the world has started to crumble.

We can feel now the impact of our mutual dependence, and – I hope – we finally realize, that we are all one, interconnected. The welfare of everyone everywhere is the utmost concern of all of us.

Yesterday was WORLD WATER DAY – the United Nations have published a row of alarming news about the correlation of the condition of natural water systems, forests and climate change, and its effects on the accessibility of clean water for billions of people. “We cannot afford to wait” – let’s take it to our heart, we are responsible for one another and responsible for nature as our singular, precious source of life.
